Lawrence Coulson is an artist that completely connects with his art on many different levels. First of all, the inspiration for a lot of his works come from his hometown, as the Cambridgeshire fens provide Coulson with wide and flat open surfaces, huge skies, and endless intensely coloured horizons.
Secondly, he connects with his art literally, as he uses a 'hands on' approach throughout the painting process as a way of blending the oils in a way that a paint brush can't always achieve.
Coulson's love of painting and his strong connection with his art creates breathtaking pieces such as this. His works are full of atmosphere and feeling, and in my mind are examples of contemporary romanticism at its best.
